Last year we introduced Ali, an Ohio State University graduate who courageously returned to Sudan to share the gospel. In a devastating turn, eight of the nine churches he planted were burned, forcing over 700 baptized believers, along with Ali, his wife, and their four children, to flee as refugees amid escalating violence. Despite these profound hardships, Ali’s faith in Jesus remains steadfast.

In the fall of 2023, Ali began sharing Christ’s love with fellow refugees, gathering 15 new believers who now meet regularly for worship and fellowship in his home. With a vision to bring hope and healing to those suffering, Ali drew on his Master’s in Social Work from OSU to establish a nonprofit dedicated to providing vital support for refugees. Through the generous support of Vineyard Columbus, Ali’s ministry has been able to secure spaces for worship and launch a food and service outreach for refugees unable to work. This is only the beginning of a powerful new kingdom ministry, bringing life and light to displaced families in need.

Leah is a member and vibrant volunteer at Vineyard Grandview. During the summers of 2023 and 2024, she embarked on a life-changing journey with a team from the Grandview campus to Cambodia. Their mission? To visit the Asia's Hope home, a sanctuary for children supported by Vineyard Columbus since 2014. This home, lovingly led by Samnang and Sun, a dedicated Cambodian couple, nurtures 21 children as their own in a warm, family-style environment.  

The Vineyard team’s adventure was more than just a visit; it was about forging deep connections and exploring the Kingdom of God in Cambodia. Leah’s heart was instantly captivated by the children. She dove headfirst into their world, eagerly learning their stories, picking up the Khmer language, and enthusiastically joining in every dance challenge the kids threw her way.

By the end of her second trip, Leah’s reflections were profound. She shared, with heartfelt clarity, how she had encountered Jesus through the lives of this incredible Cambodian family: “I’ve seen Jesus' joy, and his patience, and his kindness in the ways the kids interacted with me and with each other.”

Leah’s experiences on these trips have not only deepened her love for God but also strengthened her passion for His people across the globe. Her story is a testament to the transformative power of love, faith, and community.
